A historic typewriter, a relic of a world built on trust in the printed word, seems to gaze back at us. Mario Cresci, true to a practice that has, for decades, crossed the boundaries between conceptual photography, design, and anthropology, intervenes in the image, transforming it into something unexpected: the typewriter comes to life, revealing the trace of a human face. As in dreams or apparitions, the mechanism becomes a physiognomy, the object a symbol. Mario Cresci (born in Chiavari in 1942; lives in Bergamo) created this surreal typewriter as a tribute to the 150th anniversary of the founding of the Corriere. At the same time, the work enters the newspaper's digital collection: starting Tuesday, la Lettura will be available on newsstands in a special collector's edition featuring a QR code that, through the Corriere Art Collection app, provides access to its NFT version. With this cover, Mario Cresci offers a reflection on the world of information: behind every page are men and women. There are people, there are faces. The faces of reporters, photographers, typographers, and readers. Faces that bear witness to the world, striving every day to make sense of it.
