#735 "Antifona" by Shezad Dawood
Description
Description
“Plants have already invented our future,” reminds us neuroscientist Stefano Mancuso. This is also confirmed by the artistic work of Shezad Dawood, in which we see a symbolic collage: Lake Revine, nestled among the Prosecco Hills, and a beech tree fitted with electrodes used to collect bioelectrical recordings from plants, flowers, fungi, and waterways. Shezad Dawood (London, 1974) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice weaves together narratives that give rise to works spanning painting, installation, cinema, and digital media. Not by chance, with the work *Antifona*, the artist won the first edition of “Colline ad Arte,” the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Art Prize – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – promoted by the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, conceived by Sabrina Donadel and, for this first edition, co-curated with Valeria Szabò Facchin. A special work for a special edition: starting Tuesday, digital copies of the *Corriere Art Collection* (equipped with a QR code) will be available for purchase, allowing audiences to discover the songs of plants, flowers, and nature. Shezad Dawood has poetically transformed the landscape into sound and invites us to defend what we hold most precious. Gianluigi Colin COURTESY OF THE ARTIST
