Description
On our cover, matter seems to fracture, breaking through the boundaries of the page. German artist Felix Schramm (Hamburg, 1970) explores precisely this conceptual territory: the creation of a canvas that ceases to be a boundary and becomes a threshold. The work belongs to his *Multilayer* series, in which the artist stages a distinctive metamorphosis of the surface. Large-scale collages, constructed from overlapping layers of plasterboard and photographic fragments, appear as natural extensions of the walls on which they are displayed. The materials of the artwork seem to merge with those of the exhibition space, blurring the boundary between the two. Schramm’s work is currently on view at Ribot Gallery in Milan. From Tuesday, this issue of *la Lettura* will also be available at newsstands in a special collector’s edition featuring a QR code that provides access, via the *Corriere Art Collection* app, to the NFT version of the artwork. Schramm’s works are not simply windows opening onto another world. Rather, they are wounds in space, through which reality seems to lose its stability. Felix Schramm does more than break through the wall: he transforms it into a visual organism, offering us endless new ways of seeing. Gianluigi Colin Courtesy of the Artist / RIBOT GALLERY, MILAN
