Description
The work is at once simple and absolute: set against a red background that seems to embody the passion of journalism as an act of civic commitment, a sentence stands out. These are the very words with which Eugenio Torelli Viollier opened his presentation article for the first issue of Corriere della Sera on March 5-6, 1876. The founder and editor, he was only 34, addressed his readers with a disarming clarity that still resonates today as a manifesto of freedom and civic responsibility: “We want to speak to you plainly.”
What a powerful message: to recount reality with accuracy, respect for facts, and complete independence from any form of conditioning.
The artistic duo KINGS, the name adopted by Federica Perazzoli (Sorengo, Switzerland, 1966) and Daniele Innamorato (Milan, 1969), chose this historic incipit to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Corriere della Sera.
With this cover, KINGS recall the pact between the Corriere and its readers, transforming typography into presence, the archive into thought, and memory into prophecy.
